This was a paper stencil I made for a friend’s birthday card a few weeks ago - this was a quick photo, and I kind of made it up as I went along, but it was really fun!

After Sinbad’s Fifth Voyage

One of my largest oil paintings, I did this for my sixth-form finals. I had explored the theme of folk tales throughout my course, and took inspiration from Paula Rego’s reimaginings of these stories in a modern setting, like Swallows the Poison Apple.
This painting is loosely based on the adventures of Sinbad the Sailor, who is enslaved and ridden by the Old Man of the Sea in his Fifth Voyage.
